These mindsets are hand in hand.
However we like to claim to have a growth mindset and try all kinds of strategies and resources to do so, but we still don't achieve growth the way we would like.
This is because we fail to have a Pathway Mindset that forces us to look at a students needs, achievements and growth for each standard and sub-standard instead of a subject as a whole.
Taking differentiation to the next level!
By viewing a students abilities through Pathways instead of their overall "grade" or ability in a subject, teachers and most importantly students, are able to celebrate ANY amount of growth that happens!
But the mistakes we make with students tracking their own data is comparing their growth from test to test. Unless every assessment you give is truly cumulative then you are comparing apples to oranges.
How a student does in Fractions may be very different how they do in Geometry. So let's monitor and track growth from standard to standard, or pathway to pathway!
